This evocative engraving depicts a scene from Corinth, Greece, set against the backdrop of the towering Acrocorinth mountain. In the foreground stands a mosque, reflecting the city’s Ottoman-era architecture, complete with domes, arched porticos, and a slender minaret rising prominently into the sky. Figures in traditional dress populate the courtyard and nearby paths, adding a sense of daily life. Drawn by C. Catermole from a sketch by W. Beattie and engraved by W. Finden, the image was published in 1832 by J. Murray. It captures the historical layering of Corinth, where classical ruins meet Ottoman influences.
