This detailed engraving captures a waterfront view of Missolonghi, a historic Greek town known for its role in the Greek War of Independence. Stone buildings with tiled roofs line the shore, while smoke rises from chimneys, suggesting daily village life. In the foreground, figures in traditional Greek attire converse and relax near the water’s edge. A small sailboat glides across the calm bay, enhancing the tranquil coastal atmosphere. Drawn by J. Hardwick and engraved by E. Finden, the print was published in 1834 by J. Murray. It offers a peaceful yet poignant glimpse of a town deeply linked to Greece’s struggle for freedom.
