This finely executed engraving depicts Sir Ralph Abercromby, a distinguished British general known for his service during the Napoleonic Wars. Shown in his decorated military uniform with epaulettes and an Order of the Bath star, Abercromby is presented with an air of calm authority. The portrait is framed by an elaborate floral border and was engraved by W. Finden. A celebrated figure, Abercromby died in 1801 from wounds sustained at the Battle of Alexandria, where his leadership earned lasting respect.
