This refined portrait engraving represents Marie Thérèse Louise of Savoy, Princesse de Lamballe (1749–1792), a close confidante of Queen Marie Antoinette and a tragic figure of the French Revolution. Known for her beauty, grace, and loyalty to the Queen, the Princess de Lamballe was appointed Superintendent of the Queen’s Household and played a prominent role in the court at Versailles. Rendered in delicate linework, the engraving portrays the princess with an air of poise and refinement, wearing a voluminous gown with lace and a floral garland crowning her elaborately coiffed hair—hallmarks of late 18th-century aristocratic fashion.
