Giulio Raimondo Mazzarino (14 July 1602 – 9TH March 1661), From 1641 known as Cardinal Mazarin, was an Italian Catholic Prelate, diplomat and Politician who served as the chief minister of the King of France Lowis XIII and Louis XIV From 1642 to his death, Published 1810. This portrait engraving features Cardinal Jules Mazarin, chief minister of France under Louis XIV and a key architect of European diplomacy during the mid-17th century. Depicted with a composed gaze and clad in ecclesiastical robes fastened by a prominent clasp, Mazarin’s likeness is framed by a soft stippled background that enhances the sitter’s presence. The engraving balances ornamental precision with subdued tonal contrast, reflecting the stylistic restraint of early 19th-century printmaking. Inscribed below with “CARDINAL MAZARINE,” and bearing attribution to “Nantuel P.” and “E. Morin S.,” the print exemplifies the reverential treatment of state figures in post-revolutionary France.
