This rare unfinished Pahari miniature painting captures the powerful moment of Goddess Durga in battle with the demon Mahishasura. Rendered in fine black ink with selective wash work, the painting shows Durga in her iconic multi-armed form, poised gracefully as she slays the buffalo demon.
Though incomplete, the line work reflects the elegance and narrative strength typical of the 18th–19th century Kangra or Guler school. The expressive detailing of divine and demonic figures, combined with fluid composition, offers a glimpse into the traditional process of miniature painting.
A remarkable collector’s piece that reveals both artistic intention and mythological depth.
